Documents: Adding 'Merge Tags' to your document templates

This article explains how you can setup your document templates to automatically populate with employee data.

Updated this week

To update your document templates to automatically populate an employees information when uploaded to their SenseHR record, follow these steps.

1. Open the original editable version of your document template, e.g. a Microsoft Word document.

2. In your document editor (e.g. MS Word) insert from the following list mail merge tags, the appropriate tag for the employee information you wish to me merged.

3. Mail Merge Tags

*Note* this is only applicable to PDF format documents.

*Note* you must allow enough space for the information that is going to be merged onto that line.

For example - Dear {{Full name}} needs to sit on it's own line, as the name that it pulls into the field could be many characters and therefore not format cleanly if there isn't enough blank space on the line for it to fill.

Here is a list of the available merge fields that you can pre-add to your document to auto-update once added to the employee's record. The item on the right enclosed in {{ }} is the merge field to add to the document.

Simply copy and paste from this list or type them identically to how they are displayed here.
